How to do it

Bodyweight step-up
Unweighted step onto a box that teaches producing force with the elevated leg and controlling the descent before adding dumbbells.
Form. Choose a conservative height, plant your whole foot on top and step up pushing through that foot; lower slowly without dropping onto the floor leg.
Common mistake. Pushing off with the bottom foot, using an unstable box, letting the knee drop inward, or choosing an excessive height.
